
Eagles Top Akron in 2-0 Win

AKRON, Ohio - Boston College women's soccer earned its first road win of the season with a 2-0 triumph against Akron on Sunday afternoon inside FirstEnergy Stadium.
The Eagles are 2-3-1 on the season, while the Zips fall to 1-4-0
After a scoreless first half, the Eagles came out of the break to take advantage of their opportunities.
In the 52nd minute, Ella Richards found teammate Bella Douglas, who found the back of the net after slipping past two Akron defenders.
Playing in her first collegiate contest, Hanna Schmelzle scored 30 seconds later following a nifty move past the defender before she gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead with her first collegiate goal. Ava Feeley also recorded her first collegiate points with the assist.
The Eagles saw three freshmen step up with a goal or assist, while Richards tallied her first helper of the season.
Wiebke Willebrandt delivered her third shutout of the season, equaling last season's total. She made three saves on the evening.
BC out shot Akron, 11-9, with five shots on goal and registered a 3-2 edge in corners.
The Eagles are back in action on Thursday in the first of a five-game home stretch. BC faces Dartmouth at 5:30 p.m. at the Newton Soccer Complex.
