
Eagles Play to 1-1 Tie Versus Big Green

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College women's soccer team drew to a 1-1 tie against Dartmouth on Thursday evening at the Newton Soccer Complex.
BC is 2-3-2 on the season, while the Big Green are 3-0-2.
The Eagles trailed 1-0 for the majority of the match until Claire Mensi drilled a penalty kick with just over eight minutes remaining in the contest.
Both teams had opportunities in the final eight minutes to take the lead, as Wiebke Willebrandt stopped Daisy Granholm's shot attempt in the 86th minute to keep the contest tied.
Sonia Walk later had a clean shot to give the Eagles the lead, but was saved by the Dartmouth keeper.
The Big Green scored 14 minutes into the match to get on the board to take a 1-0 lead, which would be the score heading into the break.
BC attempted a season-high 18 shots, but six were on target. Emily Sapienza led the team with three shots on goal (eight overall). Willebrandt totaled three saves in the matchup.
The Eagles outshot Dartmouth by 11 and tallied a 5-2 edge in corners.
BC returns to action on Sunday at 1 p.m. against Sacred Heart for Senior Day. The Eagles will honor Willebrandt, Mensi, Laura Gouvin, Sapienza and Walk.
Notes
- Willebrandt is two saves away from surpassing Kate Taylor for fifth all-time in school history in saves. She is at 183 for her career heading into Sunday.
- Mensi matched her goal total from last season this evening.
