
Eagles Earn First Road Win, Taking Down The Anteaters in Four

IRVINE, CALIF.- Boston College volleyball got back in the win column Sunday night at UC Irvine. The Eagles took down the UC Irvine Anteaters in four sets, 3-1.Â
UC Irvine gained momentum early in the first set leaving the score 25-22. Set two was going the Anteaters' way until the Eagles stormed back, wiping out multiple two and three point deficits, taking the set 29-27. The Eagles ran away with the third set 25-12, and finished the Anteaters' off 25-15 in the fourth.Â
Senior Alayna Crabtree (Normal, Ill.) led all players with a match-high and season high 21 kills, and a .326 hitting percentage, tacking on two aces, eight digs, totaling 23.5 points for the Eagles. Freshman Halle Schroder (Frisco, Texas) was not far behind with 12 kills, one ace, and nine digs.
The offense was guided by seniors Sophia Lambros (Fullerton, Calif.) and Grace Penn (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) amounting to 49 assists, Lambros with 29. Junior Julia Haggerty (Lafayette, Calif.) protected the net with four blocks and one dig.
Both teams' liberos had 20 or more digs. UC Irvine's Campbell Jensen had 21, while Boston College's Anna Murphy (Zionsville, Ind.) had a season high of 23.Â
The Eagles are back in action on the road at the Iona Classic Thursday at 7 p.m. against LIU.Â
