Eagles Set to Play at the Iona Invitational

BC to face host Iona, LIU, and Fordham at the weekend tournament in New York
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College volleyball team heads to New York this weekend, taking on LIU, Iona, and Fordham in the Iona Invitational. The Eagles will face LIU on Thursday at 7 p.m., Iona on Friday at 7 p.m., and then the Eagles play Fordham at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
The Eagles are coming off a 1-2t weekend at the San Diego Invitational, after facing Tennessee, San Diego, and UC Irvine. Senior Alayna Crabtree led the Eagles with 39 kills over the weekend, while junior Julia Haggerty led the team with six blocks. The defense was led by senior libero Anna Murphy with 51 digs.
Thursday's match-up against LIU will be the fourth meeting all-time between the two teams. The Sharks are 1-5 to start the season. Friday's match will be the third meeting all-time between BC and Iona. The Gaels are 2-5 to start the season. The Eagles have gone undefeated against both LIU and Iona, a combined 7-0.
Sunday's match will be the eighth meeting between BC and Fordham as they last met in 2021, where the Eagles won in four sets at the St. John's Classic. Fordham is 5-0 so far this season.
Following the weekend in New York, BC is back on the Heights on Tuesday Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. hosting Rhode Island at the Margot Connell Recreation Center.
