CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Boston College volleyball hosts its first early-season tournament since 2021 when the University of Michigan and Sacred Heart come to the Heights. The Eagles' season opener is set for Friday, Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. against the Wolverines inside the Margot Connell Recreation Center. The Eagles face the Pioneers Sunday, Aug 27. at 1 p.m. Admissions is free to all three games and all of the BC matches will be streamed on ACCNX.

About the Eagles…
Coming off a NIVC championship, and the most wins in program history. Boston College begins its 32-match schedule by hosting the BC Invitational, opening against Big Ten program; Michigan. The Eagles return six seniors, who led the program last season; Alayna Crabtree led the Eagles with 2.64 kills per set last year to go with 3.23 points per set. Senior Anna Murphy who started in all 37 matches led the team's back row (3.77 digs per set). BC ran a 6-2 offense, a year ago, with senior setters Sophia Lambros (4.41 assists per set), and Grace Penn (6.04 assists per set). Lambros led BC with 43 service aces, while Penn set a BC individual single-season record with 852 assists. Junior Julia Haggerty, stepped into the middle blocker position (1.16 blocks per set), claiming an individual single-season record with 155 total blocks.

BC-Michigan Matchup…
Boston College is 0-1 all time against Michigan. The Eagles fell to the Wolverines away on Sept. 17, 2021 in three sets.

BC-SHU Matchup…
Boston College is 8-0 all-time against Sacred Heart. The Eagles claimed a 3-0 victory in their home tournament August 27, 2021 to finish the invitational undefeated.

BC Class of '27...
The 2023 BC volleyball roster features nine underclassmen, including five freshmen in the BC class of 2027. The Eagles have added two outside hitters, two defensive specialists, and opposite side hitter Sam Hoppes. Defensive specialist Brooklyn Yelland arrives at BC from California, where she was a member of Coast Volleyball Club, a nationally ranked team. Outside Hitter Audrey Ross played club for NorCal Volleyball and earned the title of 2023 NCS volleyball player of the year.

Season Openers…
The Eagles have compiled a 17-16 record on opening day. BC has won eight of its last 11 season openers. Boston College is 21-11 all-time in its home opener.
