Trio of Eagles Set to Compete at USATF Outdoor Nationals

Mitchell will race in the 800m on Thursday; Segalla (400m) and Frabotta (400m H) run in U20 Nationals on Saturday
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- The 2023 USATF Outdoor Championships begin tonight at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., featuring four current or former members of the Boston College men's and women's track & field team.
Katherine Mitchell will compete in the opening rounds of the 800m tonight at 6:18 p.m. ET / 3:18 pm local. The three-time All-American, now competing professionally for New Balance, will compete in the fourth heat. The top three finishers in each heat - plus the next four fastest times - will advance to the semifinals, held on Friday, July 7 at 10:59 p.m. ET / 7:59 p.m. local.
Mitchell capped her storied Boston College career at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championship this past June, placing ninth in the 800m run, achieving All-American status for the third time. She was also All-American at the 2022 NCAA Outdoor and 2023 NCAA Indoor Championships at 800m. The 2023 ACC champion at 800m both indoor and outdoor, Mitchell set new BC records in each victory, clocking 2:03.00 indoors and 2:01.73 outdoors, as well as BC's outdoor 1,500m standard (4:14.85).
On Saturday, two current members of the Boston College track & field team will also compete in Eugene at the USATF U20 Championships.
Sydney Segalla will race in the prelims of the 400m on Saturday, July 8 at 5:30 p.m. ET / 2:30 p.m. local. She is in the third of three qualifying heats. Damon Frabotta is running in the first of three heats of the 400m hurdles, beginning at 6:24 p.m. ET / 3:24 p.m. local. The top two in each heat, plus the next two fastest times, will advance to the finals in each event. Distance runner Anna Oser '21 will race in the 5000m.
