Eagles defeat Syracuse 6-2 in a wild game two
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Boston College defeated Syracuse 6-2 on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles improve their record to 23-28 and 5-18 in the ACC while the Orange go to 23-24-1 and 7-14-1 in conference play.Â
BC took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning after Sophomore Hannah Slike doubled to right field to bring Abigail Knight home for the score. The Orange then immediately responded, hitting a two run home run to take a 2-1 lead.Â
After the first inning, both offenses struggled to muster much at the plate all the way until the seventh inning when the Eagles finally were able to tie up the game on an RBI from Meghan Schouten.Â
In extra innings it looked like it could have gone either way until Junior Nicole Giery homered to take a 3-2 lead. Sophomore Zoe Hines, who also had one of the very best catches of the season earlier in the game, hit a three run double to take a 6-2 lead and finally clinch the game and the series.
Graduate pitcher Susannah Anderson got the start in the circle for the Eagles, she pitched 7.1 innings, and allowed just five hits in 26 total at bats. Â
BC and Syracuse will close out the series tomorrow at 12 PM EST.Â
