BC heads to Atlanta for their third ACC series of the season
CHESTNUT HILL, MASS – Boston College will play a three game series against Georgia Tech in Atlanta this weekend. The Yellow Jackets are currently 18-18 on the season and 2-10 in conference play, they also hold a 9-12 record at home.Â
Last time out for the Eagles
In Wednesday's midweek contest against Merrimack, BC managed to grind out a 2-1 win. Sophomore pitcher Abby Dunning played one of her better games of the season, she pitched a complete a game, recording a career-high 11 strikeouts and allowing just three hits and one run scored in 24 total at bats. BC's offense did struggle a bit but they found a way to engineer just enough runs to win with an impressive 10 total stolen bases as a team, which is good for the most stolen bases by a BC team in a game since 2017 when the Eagles recorded eight against Charlotte.Â
This past weekend, BC hosted No. 5 Clemson in their second home ACC series of the season. On Friday's doubleheader, the Eagles lost game one 8-4 and game two 7-3. They were able to keep things close through the first three or four innings of both games but the Tigers showed why they are one of the very best teams in the country as each game progressed, calmly taking their time and waiting for opportunities at the plate. BC even held the lead in game two up 3-2 but the Eagles failed to muster any more offense beyond that point as Clemson would score five total runs in the final three innings to clinch the game and series. Senior Captain Maddy Carpe did hit her third home run of the season on Friday, it was just the third home run that the Tigers had given up this entire season. Freshman Zoe Hines had a nice weekend for the Eagles, she not only led the team in batting average in the series but also had some really nice plays in the outfield including an amazing catch in the seventh inning of game two to deny what would have been a big hit for Clemson.Â
