Eagles Drop Doubleheader Against Notre Dame

CHESTNUT HILL, MASS – Boston College lost to Notre Dame 5-2 and 6-3 respectively in Saturday's doubleheader. BC is now 21-24 overall and 3-15 in the ACC while ND improves to 30-13-1 and 11-9-1 in conference play.

Both teams struggled at the plate for much of the first game of the day until Notre Dame rattled off five fifth inning runs including a grand slam by Lexi Orozco.

The Eagles would rally late in the seventh inning, scoring two runs and even putting themselves in position to tie or win the game with bases loaded but it would end up being too little late as the Irish won 5-2.

Graduate pitcher Susannah Anderson got the start in the circle for BC, she pitched four innings, recording three strikeouts and allowing four hits.

In Game Two of the day, Boston College took an early 1-0 lead on an RBI from Freshman Meghan Schouten but the Irish would later respond in the third with a three run inning. The Eagles were able to grind out two runs in the fifth and sixth innings to tie the game heading into the final inning. ND would go on to win after a three run homer in the seventh.

Sophomore Abby Dunning pitched her 18th start of the season, she recorded four strikeouts in 6.1 innings. Her record as a starter this season now goes to 10-8.

Next up, BC Softball will host Boston University on Tuesday at 5 p.m EST for their final home game of the season. They will then head back out on the road for a three-game series next weekend against Louisville.
