Eagles take on Irish coming off big win against Providence
Last time out for the EaglesÂ
In Wednsday's midweek contest against Providence, the Eagles found their confidence at the plate they recorded a season-high 11 hits, including a three run home run from Junior Nicole Giery and a two run shot from Senior Gianna Sarlo. This was Sarlo's first home run of the season and Giery's fourth. Giery has been on a roll lately recording one or more hits in the last five straight games. Graduate pitcher Susannah Anderson had one of her best outings in the circle of the season, she pitched a complete game, recording nine strikeouts and allowing just one hit in 22 total at bats. This past weekend, BC hosted #13 Duke for a three game series. The Blue Devils won all three matchups 6-4, 3-0 and 4-2 respectively. In Friday's contest, Duke led 3-0 for much of the game up until the fourth inning when Sophomore Zoe Hines cranked a three run shot to tie the game. It was her second home run of the season. The Eagles even managed to grab a 4-3 lead in the fifth inning after Senior Maddy Carpe singled to right field to bring Meghan Schouten home for the score. However, errors from the BC defense and a two run home run helped the Blue Devils take back the lead late in the seventh inning. Sophomore Abby Dunning pitched her 11th complete game of the season, she recorded six strikeouts in 25 total at bats.
