BRIGHTON, Mass. – The No. 17 Boston College baseball team was handed a 12-1, run-rule loss by No. 15 Connecticut at the Harrington Athletics Village on Wednesday night. The loss dropped the Eagles to 24-12, while the Huskies moved up to 27-10.
UConn scored in six consecutive innings after the first, plating a pair of runs on a two-run home run by designated hitter Luke Broadhurst in the seventh that pushed the lead past 10 and set up a seven-inning, run-rule scenario. Broadhurst went 2-for-4 with four RBI, three runs and two walks.
BC pitchers combined to walk 11 batters, while allowing 14 hits. The Husky pitching staff, both teams threw five pitchers, scattered eight hits and walked just three.
Senior shortstop Vince Cimini (Scranton, Pa.) led the Eagle lineup with a 2-for-3 game and scored the lone run.
