ABOUT THE EAGLES
Boston College is 24-12 overall and 9-9 in the ACC following a series loss to Duke at home last week. The Eagles are ranked for the sixth consecutive week, peaking at No. 17 in the USA Today Coaches poll. Senior center fielder Barry Walsh leads the BC lineup with a .353 batting average. Junior first baseman Joe Vetrano has hit a team-high nine home runs with a .519 slugging percentage. Junior right fielder Travis Honeyman is hitting .281 with a team-leading 12 doubles and is one of three Eagles, including Walsh, with nine stolen bases. Graduate right-hander Henry Leake starts in the Friday role with a 3-3 record and 5.40 earned run average. Fellow grad RHP Chris Flynn follows in game two. He is 6-1 with a 3.78 ERA and 61 strikeouts. A third grad transfer RHP, Andrew Roman, occupies the closer spot and has a 0.72 ERA with eight saves.

No. 21 Boston College dropped a home series to No. 14 North Carolina in 2021. The Eagles evened the series with a 10-3 win behind seven innings of one-run ball from Emmet Sheehan, who struck out eight. The weekend was decided in the ninth on Sunday after BC came back to tie the game 4-4. A leadoff-walk led to the game-winning run being driven in on a triple by Danney Serretti. he Eagles got the tying run to third in the ninth as Luke Gold doubled and advanced on a groundball, but was left stranded.

The Eagles’ 14 road wins are the second most in the country and most among Power 5 programs; one behind West Virginia. Last season, BC went 9-19 in true road games.
