BC Comes Up Short In First Game Of Series

Eagles go to 19-20 on the season, Hines hits three run homer
CHESTNUT HILL, MASS – Boston College lost to Duke 6-4 on Friday afternoon. BC moves to 19-20 on the season and 2-11 in the ACC while the Blue Devils improve to 34-8 overall and 11-5 in the conference.Â
Duke led 3-0 for much of the game up until the fourth inning when Sophomore Zoe Hines cranked a three run shot to tie the game. It was her second home run of the season.Â
The Eagles even managed to then grab a 4-3 lead in the fifth inning after Senior Maddy Carpe singled to right field to bring Meg Schouten home for the score. However, some costly errors from the BC defense and a two run home run helped the Blue Devils take back the lead late in the seventh inning.Â
Sophomore Abby Dunning pitched her 11th complete game of the season, she recorded six strikeouts in 25 total at bats. Her record as a starter now stands at 9-6 on the season
Game two of the series against Duke is scheduled for tomorrow at 1 PM EST.Â
