BC looks to continue momentum after walk-off win vs. UConn
Last time out for the Eagles
In Tuesday's midweek contest against UConn, BC held a lead for much of the game, they scored three runs in the first two innings to take a 3-0 lead. The Huskies would then get one run back in the third to make it 3-1 but that was all the scoring that came in for much of this one until UConn was able tie it up on a two run homer in the seventh inning by Lexi Hastings. But the Eagles were able to pull out a walk-off win on a base hit from Junior Nicole Giery to bring in Sophomore Alexis Dale for the game sealing score. Giery played another solid game, she had three hits in four at bats and two RBI. Sophomore pitcher Abby Dunning got her ninth win of the season and pitched her eleventh complete game of the season, recording nine strikeouts and allowing just three total hits in 25 at bats.
This past weekend, the Eagles traveled to Atlanta to take on Georgia Tech in a three-game series. The Yellow Jackets won the series 2-1, winning games one and three. In BC's lone win of the weekend, they were able to shake off the earlier struggles and grind out a win. Nicole Giery hit what ended up being a critical solo home run in the fourth inning to cut the Tech lead to 2-1. It was her third home run of the season. The other key moments of the game came in the sixth inning, Senior Captain Maddy Carpe came up with another clutch hit, despite two outs in the inning and an 0-2 count, she doubled to bring Zoe Hines and Kam Warman home for the score to tie the game at 3-3. Then, Sophomore Kali Case singled down the left field line to send Carpe in for the game winning run to make the score 4-3.
