Eagles Sweep Three-Game Series Against UC San Diego

LA JOLLA, CA– Boston College defeated UC San Diego 3-2 on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles go to 11-7 overall on the season while UCSD moves to 7-12.Â
BC once again got some offense early in this one, they scored two first inning runs off a double from Junior shortstop Nicole Giery to send Hannah Slike home. Then Giery was able to score herself after a base hit from Erika Andal.Â
After the Tritons got one back in the bottom of the first to make it 2-1, BC and UCSD would each trade runs in the fourth inning to make the score 3-2. Sophomore pitcher Abby Dunning came in and did a nice job closing the game out in the seventh to get the save. Freshman Halie Pappion got the start and the win for the Eagles, she pitched three innings, allowing just four hits.Â
Nicole Giery had herself a nice game on offense, making some timely plays to squeak out the win, she had a hit, two runs scored, an RBI and a walk in two at bats.Â
BC Softball will be back tomorrow as they travel over to UC Riverside for a game at 4 p.m EST.Â
