March 30, 2023 | Softball
No. 5 ranked Tigers make their way to The Heights for three game series
CHESTNUT HILL, MASS – Boston College will get set to host #5 Clemson this weekend in their third ACC series of the season. Clemson comes into this weekend one of the hottest teams in the entire country, they currently hold a 33-1 overall record and have started 9-0 in ACC games. They also are currently on an impressive 19 game win streak. Game times are set for 12 p.m EST for game one and 12 PM EST for game three, Saturday's gametime will be TBA and more details will be announced as soon as possible. All games will be broadcasted on ACCNX.Â
Last time out for the Eagles
Wednesday's midweek contest against the UMass Minutewomen was a tough loss for the Eagles. It looked like BC was going to squeeze out a 5-3 win but in the top of the seventh inning, Jules Shields of UMass hit what ended up being a game-winning three run homer to take a 6-5 lead headed into the second half of the seventh inning. BC was not able to muster anything at the plate in the final half inning despite getting runners in scoring position.Â
This past weekend, BC hosted North Carolina in their home opening series of the 2023 season. In last Friday's doubleheader, the Eagles won the first game 3-1. Sophomore Abby Dunning pitched another complete game for her sixth win as a starter this season. She allowed just three hits and one run in 24 at bats and recorded six strikeouts as well. She also tied her career high in strikeouts with eight in Sunday's game. Boston College had played well for much of that third game, leading 3-2 all the way until the sixth inning but unfortunately more errors from the pitching staff and the outfield cost BC the game and allowed the Tar Heels to put together a six run inning and win the game 8-3. Sophomore Hannah Slike had another good weekend at the plate, she had 10 total at bats, recording four hits, two doubles and a home run with a batting average of .400.Â
