Eagles Head to Rhode Island as Weather Forces Schedule Change
March 30, 2023 | Rowing
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Eagles continue their championship spring season in North Kingstown, R.I. this Friday after inclement weather forced a change from their planned appearance at the Doc Hosea Regatta on Saturday.
BC is now slated to take on the defending Atlantic 10 Rowing Champions, University of Rhode Island, and their conference rival UMass Amherst on URI's home course.
The first race will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the final event taking place at 11:00 a.m.Â
LAST TIME OUT
BC's 1V boat featuring Ella Bruno, Phoebe DeVlieger, Lauren Bauer, Lucy Barratt, Lauren Meath, Alexandra Bocek, Rebecca Butler, Carly Griffin, and Peyton Smith secured the Eagles first victory of the new season to claim the Gummy Bear Bowl trophy (6:42.6) in their matchup against Boston University on Mar. 25. BU's 1V finished shortly after, posting a time of 6:47.0.
The V4 race took place next in a tightly contested affair. Boston College's 1V4 found their stride in the last stretch of the race - finding themselves in a neck-and-neck battle with the finish line closing in. The Eagles final push ultimately fell just short, finishing 2.6 seconds behind BU for a time of 7:57.7.
The Terriers claimed victory in the opening 2V race (6:59.8) and closed the morning matchup with a 3V win (7:22.1). However, the small time margins in tough conditions are a promising sign for Boston College moving forward.
