Boston College Wraps Lake Wheeler Invitational with Multiple Top Finishes

CARY, N.C.– The Boston College rowing team closed competition at the Lake Wheeler Invitational on Saturday afternoon, highlighted by a second-place finish in the Third Varsity Eight and top-three finishes in the Varsity Four and Second Varsity Eight.

The Third Varsity Eight led the way for the Eagles, placing second with a time of 6:55.560, finishing behind North Carolina and ahead of SMU, Louisville and Georgetown.

"Good improvements and adjustments throughout racing! Every crew was consistent throughout all three rounds of racing, which is a big part of our process," said head coach Grace Hollowell. "Great work by the 2V4 and 2V8 to close some margins and flip a few, too. Excited to get back to The Charles and find a few more seconds—go Eagles!"

Boston College also added a pair of third-place finishes in the Varsity Four and Second Varsity Eight. The Varsity Four crossed in 7:24.380, just over a second behind second-place Louisville, while finishing ahead of Georgetown, Tulsa and Old Dominion. The Second Varsity Eight posted a time of 6:47.280 in a competitive field, crossing the finish line ahead of Tulsa, Georgetown and Old Dominion.

The Varsity Eight finished fourth with a time of 6:43.010, seven seconds ahead of Georgetown and Old Dominion, while the Second Varsity Four placed fifth with a time of 7:40.450.
