Softball Outpaced In Final Game of Series
March 26, 2023 | Softball
CHESTNUT HILL, MASS – Boston College lost to North Carolina 8-3 on Sunday afternoon to close out the three game series. The Eagles go to 16-13 on the season and 1-5 in the ACC while UNC improves their record to 13-21 overall and 3-6 in the conference.Â
After the two sides split the double header this past Friday, BC came out swinging today to try for their first series win against the Tar Heels in program history since joining the ACC in 2005. They took a 3-0 in the bottom of the third thanks to a two run shot from Sophomore Hannah Slike. This was Slike's sixth home run of the season, she now has two more home runs then she did all of last season when she had just four.Â
The Eagles held the lead for much of this one but they once again had difficulty closing it out. The key moments of the game came in the top of the sixth inning when the Tar Heels rattled off a six run inning on some nice base running and some more costly errors from the BC defense.Â
Sophomore pitcher Abby Dunning got the start in the circle today for the Eagles, she pitched five innings and recorded eight strikeouts which ties her career high.Â
BC Softball will be back on Wednesday for a midweek contest as they host UMass.Â
