Eagles Drop Opening Game Of Series Against NC State
March 17, 2023 | Softball
RALEIGH, N.C – Boston College lost to NC State 6-2 on Friday afternoon in the first game of the series. The Eagles move to 15-8 on the season and the Wolfpack improve their record to 8-17.Â
The bats got going early for both teams in the first inning, Sophomore Hannah Slike hit her fourth home run of the season to go up 1-0 then NC State immediately responded with a two run shot of their own to take a 2-1 lead at the bottom of the first.Â
In the top of the third, Sophomore Kali Case had one of the wildest plays you could ever see in a softball game, she singled and then was able to get all the way home off multiple errors from NC State to tie up the game at 2-2.Â
The turning point of this one came in the bottom of the fourth when the Wolfpack took a 5-2 lead off of some nice baserunning and errors from the BC defense.Â
For the Eagles, Susannah Anderson got the start in the circle, she pitched five innings, recording a season-high 11 strikeouts and allowing just four hits in 22 at bats.Â
BC and NC State will be back for game two of the series tomorrow at 2 PM ESTÂ
