Lacrosse Downs Louisville in Home Contest

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College lacrosse soared past Louisville in a 19-8 victory on Saturday morning in the first game inside Alumni Stadium.Â
BC wins its ninth straight game in the series, while improving to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the league. Louisville falls to 4-3 and 1-2 in the ACC.Â
The Eagles' offense was on full display, scoring a season high in goals with nine players finding the back of the net.Â
Belle Smith and Jenn Medjid dominated the Cardinals, combining for 11 goals and four assists. Smith scored a season-high six times while Mejid posted a season-best nine points with five scores and four helpers.Â
Andrea Reynolds tallied a personal-high 10 draw controls, and Hunter Roman led the way with four caused turnovers. Shea Dolce came through with five saves and earned her first collegiate win in the process.Â
BC had to fight back from an early deficit after Louisville jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the first quarter. Smith and Medjid scored twice in the last 1:59 of the frame to slice the gap to two goals.Â
Mckenna Davis gave the Eagles their first lead of the game with 4:55 left in the first half. Neither team scored the rest of the way, leading to a 9-8 advantage going into the break.Â
It was all Eagles in the second half, shutting out Louisville and scoring 10 goals in the third and fourth periods.Â
Seven Eagles scored during the surge, including four from Smith and a pair from Shea Baker, who scored her first-career goal in the final period.Â
Defensively, BC held Louisvlle scoreless after allowing eight goals in the first 23:24 of the game.Â
The Eagles hit the road for three straight contests away from home, beginning with Clemson on Thursday at 4 p.m.Â
