Eagles Get Revenge In Rematch Against Villanova

BOCA RATON, FLA-- Boston College beat Villanova 5-1 on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles move to 8-7 on the season and Nova goes to 6-9 overall.Â
After a sluggish couple of innings for both sides, BC's offense came to life in the third scoring four runs. They were able to do a much better job of finishing off innings and getting hits with players on base, Sophomore Hannah Slike got a RBI off an error from the Wildcats shortstop that sent Maddy Carpe home for the score and Senior Abi Knight hit Aleyah Terrell home to make i3-0. Nicole Giery also got in on the action to bring Slike in to make the score 4-0 at the end of the third.Â
Sophomore pitcher Abby Dunning got the start and the win for the Eagles. She pitched a complete game, recording six strikeouts, and allowing only four hits and one run in 24 total at bats. Dunning is now 3-0 in games started this year. Senior Abi Knight ahad two hits, an RBI and a run scored to continue her great start to the season as well.Â
Upon returning back to the Heights, BC Softball will get ready to head out west next weekend for a three game weekend series against UC San Diego and a single against UC Riverside next Monday.Â
