Eagles move to 6-3 on the season, Senior Maddy Carpe hits her first home run of the season
FORT MYERS, FLA – Boston College lost to Florida Gulf Coast 9-3 on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles move to 6-3 on the season while FGCU improves their record to 6-4.
It was a slow start for both teams through the first two innings going scoreless. In the third inning, BC took a 2-0 lead off a single from Freshman Maycee Hilt that brought in Abigail Knight and Hannah Slike to score.Â
The FGCU offense exploded in the fourth inning going for six runs off a well balanced attack from a multitude of hitters including from Riley Oakes and Nikki Gibson.Â
Florida Gulf Coast would continue their great offensive play in the fifth, tacking on three more runs. But Maddy Carpe for BC did manage to hit a home run in the sixth inning, which was her first of her Senior season.Â
BC Softball will now get ready to head back to Florida next weekend for the FAU Invitational in Boca Raton.Â
