February 13, 2023 | Men's Basketball
The 6-5 guard averaged 12.0 points, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 steals for the Eagles
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- After averaging 12.0 points, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 steals for the Eagles, Chas Kelley III was named the ACC's Co-Rookie of the Week.
The 6-5 guard scored a career-high 17 points and tied his season-high with four assists (zero turnovers) in the win at Virginia Tech. Kelley played a career-best 31 minutes versus the Hokies, connecting on 5-of-8 shots from the floor - including 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. Â
Kelley's breakout game helped lead BC to an 82-76 win and a regular season series sweep of Virginia Tech. Entering the VT game, he had scored 12 total points with only two made 3-pointers in 10 previous ACC contests.
On Feb. 11, Kelley added seven points and three steals in 21 minutes off the bench at home against N.C. State.
It marks the first time a Boston College player has earned weekly honors from the ACC since Dec. 17, 2018, when Wynston Tabbs earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors. It also marks the first time a BC player was named ACC Rookie of the Week during conference play since Jan. 2, 2017 (Ky Bowman).
Kelley's weekly award marks the 16th time a Boston College player was named ACC Rookie of the Week.
The Eagles return to action on Tuesday night, when they travel to Pittsburgh for a 9 p.m. tip at the Petersen Events Center. The game can be seen live nationally on ACC Network.
