Birdball Fall Work Ramps Up With First Scrimmage at St. John's

Eagles to face St. John's and Brown over next two weeks
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Just under a month into the fall ball calendar, Boston College baseball is preparing for two scrimmages, first this Sunday at St. John's, and then at home against Brown on Saturday, October 14.Â
The Eagles will take on the Red Storm on Sunday, October 8 at noon for their first non-intrasquad action of the fall semester. Since their first meeting in 1985, Boston College and St. John's have met 83 times, with the Red Storm taking the most recent matchup, 4-2 in 2014.Â
Under first year head coach Todd Interdonato, Birdball returned a strong collective of veteran contributors, including pitchers John West, Eric Schroeder, and Joey Ryan, and offensive weapons Cameron Leary, Barry Walsh, and Patrick Roche.Â
The Eagles welcome back eight members of their lineup for game one of the 2023 NCAA Regionals, including West, Leary, Walsh, Roche, the middle-infield duo of Vince Cimini and Sam McNulty, third baseman Nick Wang, and outfielder Cohl Mercado. Â
The fall ball roster features 17 new members, including five graduate transfers, two transfer juniors, two transfer sophomores, and eight incoming freshmen.Â
