BOSTON COLLEGE VS. VIRGINIA - ALL-TIME SERIES

Today's game is the 27th all-time meeting between the two teams. Boston College is 8-18 all-time against Virginia.
This is the first of two regular season meeting with the Cavaliers.
In ACC regular season play, BC is 7-14 against Virginia. Last year, UVA earned a 67-55 win on Feb. 1, 2022 at JPJ.
On Jan. 7, 2020, the Eagles snapped a six-game losing streak vs. the Cavaliers with a 60-53 win at home.

BOSTON COLLEGE AGAINST RANKED OPPONENTS

Boston College is 68-256 overall against ranked opponents - and 20-130 all-time against top 10 ranked teams.
The Eagles are 1-3 this season against teams ranked in the Associated Press and Coaches top 25 polls.
On Dec. 21, BC downed #20/21 Virginia Tech, 70-65, in overtime, snapping a nine-game slide vs. ranked opponents.
BC lost twice to Duke - 75-59 vs. the #17/17 Blue Devils to start ACC play on Dec. 3 and 65-64 against #16/14 Duke on Jan. 7. The Eagles also fell, 88-72, at #16/15 Miami on Jan. 11.
BC was 0-1 vs. teams ranked in the top 25 in 2021-22 - dropping the lone matchup with #7/7 Duke, 71-62, on Feb. 12, 2022.
The last two - and three of the last four - wins over top 10 opponents were against the No. 1 team in the country.

20/20 SPORTS FLASH

Quinten Post and Makai Ashton-Langford are the first pair of BC teammates in five years to tally consecutive 20 point games.
Post had 29 points and Ashton-Langford 20 at Notre Dame on Jan. 21. Against Louisville, they tallied 22 and 21, respectively.
On March 7, 2018 at the ACC Tournament, Jerome Robinson had 26 and Ky Bowman 24 in a 91-87 win over N.C. State.
The following day, Bowman scored 23 and Robinson 20 in a loss to Clemson in the ACC Quarterfinals.
Bowman and Robinson each reached the 20-point mark in consecutive games on three occasions during the 2017-18 season.
Robinson and Jordan Chatman were the last BC duo to score 20 apiece in back-to-back wins (Dec. 9 and 12, 2017).

CONSECUTIVE DOUBLE-DIGIT WINS

Since joining the ACC, 32 of Boston College's 101 wins have been by double-digits.
The Eagles have posted two straight conference victories by double figures - at Notre Dame (12) and vs. Louisville (10).
The last time BC won back-to-back ACC games by 10 or more points came during the 2010-11 season.
The Eagles strung together three straight double-figure wins in ACC play to close the regular season - by 19 at UVA on Feb. 26, 2011, by 15 at Virginia Tech on March 1, 2011, by 16 versus Wake Forest by 16 on March 6, 2011, and again over Wake in the opening round of the ACC Tournament on March 10, 2011.

With a 3-pointer with 3:05 remaining in the first half at Notre Dame, Makai Ashton-Langford scored his 1,000th career point.
Through 130 career games, the graduate student has scored 1,033 points at Providence (2017-18) and BC (2020-present).
Since transferring to BC, he has tallied 784 points in 67 games over two-plus seasons at the Heights, from 2020-23.
He is the second transfer student in the past two years to reach this collegiate career scoring milestone.
James Karnik '22 reached the 1,000 point mark almost exactly a year prior - Jan. 22, 2022 - in a home win over Virginia Tech.

QP'S MONSTER PERFORMANCE AT NOTRE DAME

Quinten Post scored a career-high 29 points and tied a career-best with 14 rebounds in an 84-72 win at Notre Dame on Jan. 21.
Post was 10-for-14 from the floor, connecting on a career-best 4-of-5 from the beyond the arc.
The 7-footer also connected on 5-of-5 from the charity stripe and blocked two shots in 29 minutes.
His efficiency rating (PTS+REB+AST+STL+BLK - FG Miss - TO) was 37.
That was a career-best for Post and a single-game high for any BC player since the 2019-20 season when Steffon Mitchell posted an EFF rate of 38 in an OT win at Virginia Tech on Feb. 8, 2020.

SUITS AND SNEAKERS

Members of the Boston College men's basketball program will wear New Balance sneakers with their suits as part of the annual Coaches vs. Cancer "Suits and Sneakers" week.
Members of the Eagles' staff will be wearing all-white New Balance BB550's in tonight's game vs. Louisville.

Boston College saw its 420-game streak with at least one made 3-pointer end on Jan. 17 at North Carolina.
BC was 0-for-6 from beyond the arc in the game - marking the first time since Nov. 28, 2009 that BC went without a 3-pointer.
The Eagles were the first ACC team this season - and the first since Virginia a season ago - to go 3-pointer-less in a game.
Last year, UVA was 0-for-6 from 3-point land vs. Louisville on March 9, 2022 and 0-for-9 vs. Virginia Tech on Feb. 14, 2022.

Boston College connected on a season-best 11 3-pointers, making 11-of-19 from the perimeter at Notre Dame on Jan. 21.
The 11 treys were the most by the Eagles since Feb. 21, 2022 when they also made 11 in a home win over Florida State.
BC's 11-of-19 shooting was good for 57.9% - the best single-game shooting mark (min. 10 3FGA) since Jan. 20, 2019.
In that game, the Eagles made 13-of-21 3-pointers - a 61.9% clip - in an 87-82 home win over #11 Florida State.
Over the last two games, BC is 19-of-41 from beyond the arc - good for a 46.3% proficiency rate.

PRINCE DOESN'T SHY AWAY FROM BIG MOMENTS

Despite being a freshman, Prince Aligbe does not shy away from big moments in his first season with the Eagles.
He scored 10 of his 15 points in the second half vs. ND on Jan. 3, including a jumper with 2:32 left, making it 61-60.
Three of his seven 3-pointers have come in crucial moments - a buzzer-beating 3FG to end the first half and spur on the comeback against #20/21 Virginia Tech; a 3-pointer in the corner with 1:24 left in regulation to make it a one-point game at home vs. #16/14 Duke; a 3-pointer with 7:13 left at Notre Dame, ending a 22-7 Irish run and giving BC the lead for good.

JZ IN RARE COMPANY - 11/7/4

Jaeden Zackery has registered two games with at least 11 points, seven assists, and four steals this season.
There have been 65 11/7/4 performances this season - Zackery is one of four players nationally to do it twice.
Zackery is one of three ACC players with an 11/7/4 game; Tyree Appleby (Wake) and Judah Mintz (Syracuse) are the others.

In conference play (nine games), BC is averaging 10.8 turnovers per game, while posting a 1.22:1 ATR.

Mason Madsen leads the Eagles in 3-pointers made this season, with 22 - and has 69 career treys in 66 career games.
Over the last six games, Madsen is 7-of-16 from beyond the arc - good for a 43.8% clip.
Madsen tied his career single-game high with five 3-pointers - including the go-ahead trey - in a win over Detroit Mercy.
The junior transfer also connected on three 3-pointers against Villanova in the Never Forget Tribute Classic.
