Eagles Face UMass Saturday in First Road Test

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College looks to start the season 3-0 on Saturday when it travels to Rudd Field in Amherst to face UMass in its first road game of the year. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. and the game will air live on ESPN+.
LAST TIME OUT
• Senior striker Stefan Sigurdarson registered a brace for the second straight match and Boston College held off Northeastern for a 3-2 victory at home on Monday
• In the 35th minute, Adrian Zenko's cross was deflected by an NU defender and Sigurdarson one-timed a volley to the goalkeeper's right
• Less than two minutes into the second half, Sigurdarson powered a left-footed penalty into the bottom right corner to make it 2-0
• Amos Shapiro-Thompson added a third BC goal in the 63rd minute following a misplay from NU keeper Colby Hegarty near the right post

• With four goals in his first two games of 2022, Stefan Sigurdarson now has 20 career goals at Boston College
• Sigurdarson is only the 11th player in program history to score 20 goals, trailing Jay Hutchins and David Sullivan by a goal for ninth place
• The senior is already halfway to his career-high of eight goals as a freshman in 2019 when he was an All-ACC Third Team selection

• The Minutemen shut out Sacred Heart 4-0 on Monday in their home opener at Rudd Field, improving to 1-0-1
• UMass scored all four of its goals in the opening 34 minutes of the contest
• The Minutemen drew 1-1 at Northeastern in their season opener
• UMass returns just four starters from last season but welcomed nine newcomers
• Massachusetts was picked to finish ninth in the Atlantic 10 Preseason PollÂ
