April 09, 2022 | Lacrosse
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College lacrosse team downed No. 18 Notre Dame on Senior Day, 16-10, in Alumni Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles improve to 12-1 on the season and 5-1 in ACC play, while Notre Dame is 5-8 and 1-5 in the league. BC has won 12 of the past 14 matchups in the series.Â
A pair of seniors scored eight of the team's goals, as Charlotte North posted five scores and Jenn Medjid came away with three. North had six points thanks to an assist, while Medjid's two helpers gave her five.Â
North and Medjid were two of four players who scored multiple times. Kayla Martello scored both of her goals in the first period, and Mckenna Davis tallied a pair of scores.Â
Boston College got off to another hot start as it jumped out to a 7-2 lead after the first period. BC scored the first three goals of the game, with Martello finding the back of the net twice in the first 3:01.Â
After a lightning delay between the first and second period, Cassidy Weeks started things off by pushing the Eagles' lead to six. BC went into the half with a 10-3 lead.Â
The Eagles wouldn't relinquish their lead despite Notre Dame slicing the gap to five. Davis' second goal in the fourth quarter gave BC its largest lead at 16-8.Â
Rachel Hall stopped a season-high nine shots in the victory and posted a .474 save percentage. It's the highest mark she has reached in a league game this season.Â
Hunter Roman and Sydney Scales led the team with four ground balls while Hollie Schleicher and Scales recorded a pair of caused turnovers.Â
Roman and Scales were two of six Eagles with multiple ground balls. Schleicher, Hall and Melanie Welch tallied two ground balls in the triumph.Â
After the game, the Eagles honored the eight seniors for Senior Day.Â
