Eagles Hand Denver its First Loss

DENVER - The Boston College lacrosse team outlasted No. 11 Denver, 9-5, on Wednesday afternoon at the Peter Barton Stadium. The game was called after the third quarter due to the cold temperature.Â
Boston College improves to 7-0 on the season and 4-0 against ranked opponents. The Eagles give the Pioneers their first loss of the season and snap their 21-game winning streak at home.Â
After a 2-2 first period, Boston College gained separation by outscoring the hosts in the second quarter, 7-3.Â
Charlotte North scored three of her team-high four goals in the second period, including the first score in the second frame that broke the 2-2 tie.
Jenn Medjid tallied all three of her scores in the second, highlighted by her goal with 14 seconds left in the first half, giving BC a 9-5 lead.Â
Both defenses highlighted the third quarter as neither team found the back of the net.Â
Belle Smith got in on the action in the quarter with a goal. Kayla Martello was the other Eagle to score, as she was the first to score in the contest.
The Eagles caused 10 turnovers, with Sophia Taglich and Courtney Taylor recording two. Rachel Hall, Cassidy Weeks, and Sydney Scales registered three groundballs.Â
Hall recorded four saves between the posts in 45 minutes of action. BC won its 36th straight game when allowing fewer than 10 goals.Â
Boston College returns to action at home on Sunday at 1 p.m. against Yale in Fish Field House.Â
