CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Boston College baseball team lost to Miami, 11-3, at Mark Light Field on Saturday night. The Eagles dropped to 6-7 overall and 1-1 in the ACC, while the Hurricanes improved to 10-4 and 1-1.

Freshman right-hander Karson Ligon (2-1) went six innings to get the win for Miami. He scattered four hits and a walk, yielding one run, and struck out seven.

The Hurricanes got a run on BC freshman right-hander Sean Hard (Mahwah, N.J.), who limited the damage with an inning-ending double play, as shortstop Dominic Pitelli hit a leadoff home run in the third. The Eagles answered right away in the top of the fourth as sophomore first baseman Joe Vetrano (Shrub Oak, N.Y.) launched a towering home run to right.

Miami responded with a four-run fourth, which started with a walk and was aided by an error on a rundown where the BC infield was playing in, but failed to get an out between third and home.

Hard (0-1) was pulled one batter into the fifth inning as he issued his fourth walk. In four-plus innings of work, he allowed six runs, five earned, on five hits to go with two strikeouts.

Pitelli finished the night 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs; adding a two-run double in the seventh.
