BC wide receiver voted top player in New England by NEFW.
BOSTON -- Boston College senior wide receiver Zay Flowers (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) was voted as the recipient of the University Division Gold Helmet Award, given to the top Division I player in New England, by the New England Football Writers. He is the first winner from BC since defensive end Zach Allen in 2018.
Flowers, who also earned All-New England recognition for the second time in his career, led the Eagles with 78 receptions for 1,077 yards and 12 touchdowns. He set the BC single-season record for receiving touchdowns, matched it in receptions and 100-yard receiving games (six), while his receiving yard total ranks third in BC history; just the fourth 1,000-yard season by an Eagle receiver.
Flowers was previously awarded the Bulger Lowe Award by the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston as New England's top offensive player.
