Eagles kicker is one of three remaining kickers nationally with a perfect field goal percentage in 2025
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Boston College kicker Luca Lombardo was named one of 20 semifinalists for the Lou Groza Award, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission announced Tuesday afternoon.Â
Lombardo is one of three remaining kickers in the country to have a perfect field goal percentage, connecting on all 14 of his field goal attempts this season. He has also made 31 extra points on 31 attempts for a total of 73 points through 11 games. In the season opener vs. Fordham (8/30), Lombardo made a career-best nine extra points on nine attempts. Later this season, Lombardo became the first Boston College placekicker since 2023 to make three field goals in a game, including a career-long 52-yard field goal vs. Connecticut (10/18).Â
The Lou Groza Award is given annually to college football's top placekicker. The award is named for National Football League Hall of Fame kicker Lou "The Toe" Groza, who played 21 seasons with the Cleveland Browns. Groza won four NFL championships with Cleveland and was named NFL Player of the Year in 1954.
The recipient of the 2025 Lou Groza Award will be announced live on The Home Depot College Football Awards show on December 12, 2025.
