NEWTON, Mass. – Freshman Ted Cargill scored his first collegiate goal and Boston College secured its first ACC conference win by a 2-0 final against the NC State Wolfpack on Friday night at the Newton Soccer Complex.
BC remained unbeaten all-time at home against NC State at 8-0-2.
The Eagles (3-4-3, 1-3-1 ACC) started off with a flurry of strong attacks, culminating in four shots in the first minute of action. Augustine Boadi almost broke the stalemate during the barrage with a shot off of the crossbar.
Cargill secured the lead for BC in the 28th minute with a left-foot finish off a through ball from fellow freshman Camilo Ponce.
NC State (4-5-1, 1-4-0 ACC) saw quality opportunities after halftime, earning seven corners in the second half, but was not able to find the back of the net.
BC's leading goal-scorer Stefan Sigurdarson built on his strong senior campaign with his seventh goal of the season in the 84th minute to give the Eagles a 2-0 cushion.
Boston College's defense was anchored by Brennan Klein, earning a clean sheet by saving all three shots he faced.Â
The Eagles are back in Newton on Tuesday to host Brown at 7Â p.m. on ACCNX.
