October 11, 2022 | Men's Soccer
NEWTON, Mass. – Despite playing down a man for the final 26 minutes, Brown hung on to defeat Boston College 1-0 on Tuesday night at the Newton Soccer Complex in the Bears' first visit to the Heights in a decade.
Brown (6-3-1, 0-1-1 IVY) took advantage of a 22nd minute strike from Kojo Dadzie and defended effectively the rest of the way. Henrik Weiper registered four saves to post a shutout for the Bears.
BC (3-5-3, 1-3-1 ACC) out-shot Brown 13-6 in the match, led by four shots from rookie Ted Cargill and three from senior Stefan Sigurdarson.
Dadzie provided the decisive goal by cutting inside to his right foot on the edge of the 18-yard box and curling a low effort inside the far post to beat Brennan Klein (3 saves).
Kyle Gee was issued a straight red card in the 64th minute for a challenge against Christian Bejar on the edge of the Boston College box. BC dominated possession for the rest of the match but could not generate an equalizer.
The Eagles dropped to 3-2-2 at home this season. They will travel to face No. 10 Wake Forest on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
