Pat Garwo III logs career-best 89 receiving yards
EAST HARTFORD, Conn. – Boston College dropped a 13-3 decision on Saturday afternoon at Connecticut.
The Eagles fell behind early, allowing a touchdown on a two-play, 75-yard drive a little over a minute into the game. UConn would make it 10-0 later in the quarter, connecting on a 31-yarder with 8:42 left in the first.
Connor Lytton's 19-yard field goal in the second quarter put Boston College within a touchdown with 9:57 to go in the first half. It would remain 10-3 at the half.
After a scoreless third quarter, UConn made it a two-score game after adding another field goal - this time from 43 yards - to go up 13-3 with 6:26 to play.
Boston College continued to fight, but yielded five total turnovers in the game - including three in the fourth quarter.
Phil Jurkovec finished the game 12-for 19, for 155 yards and two interceptions. After a third quarter injury knocked him out of the game, he was replaced by Emmett Morehead, who finished 7-of-16 for 75 yards and an interception.
Pat Garwo III led BC with 89 yards receiving - a new career-high - on five catches. Garwo also rushed six times for 13 yards. Bryce Steele led BC with seven tackles (three solo) while Donovan Ezeiruaku and Chibueze Onwuka each logged six tackles. As a team, the Eagles' defensive corps logged 10 tackles for a loss and made two sacks.
The loss drops the Eagles to 2-6 overall. Boston College hosts Duke on Friday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. at Alumni Stadium. The game can be seen live on ESPN2.
