October 21, 2022 | Volleyball
ATLANTA, GA – Boston College lost 0-3 to Georgia Tech on Friday evening, the Eagles lost by scores of 19-25, 13-25 and 18-25. The Eagles move to 14-8 overall and 2-7 in the ACC while the Yellow Jackets improve to 14-4 on the season and 7-2 in the conference.
In set one, BC held strong against the No. 10 ranked Yellow Jackets, after going down 7-3 early in the set off a quick 5-0 run by Tech, the Eagles fought back and even looked they might have had a chance to steal it when they took a 16-14 lead however Georgia Tech showed why they have been so good all year long as they rattled off a 11-3 to clinch the set.
After the Jackets ran away with set two, Boston College looked to extend the match into a fourth set after going down 0-2 however Tech's power hitting proved to just be too much for the Eagles as they went on another impressive 8-2 scoring run to complete the sweep.
For Georgia Tech, Julia Bergmann led the way with 18 kills, 10 digs and 5 blocks and Breland Morrisette added six kills on a .455 hitting percentage to go along with five blocks and four service aces as well.
For BC, Graduate middle blocker Kate Brennan (Endicott, N.Y) tallied three kills and six blocks and Sophomore middle blocker Julia Haggerty (Lafayette, Calif) recorded three kills and four blocks of her own.
The Eagles will be back in action on Sunday at 1 p.m as they take on the Clemson Tigers.
