Memphis and BC battled early, with Ross grabbing her 1,000^th career kill and a service ace from Vesela. Tied at 6-6, the Eagles rattled off five straight points with back-to-back service aces from Ross and a block from Watson. Kills from Marjanovic and Curtis would help the visitors take a 15-10 edge going into the media timeout. Memphis responded, scoring six of the next nine points to cut the deficit to two and force a timeout. The Eagles came out in control, taking seven of the next nine points behind Tigers errors to win the set 25-18.

Both sides traded points to begin the second set before the hosts would grab an 11-8 lead. However, Boston College responded by scoring 11 of the next 12 points to take a 19-12 advantage. Hoppes recorded three kills in the stretch, while Ross and Vesela each logged a service ace. Additional kills from Ross and Hoppes, along with multiple errors from the Tigers, would see the Eagles take the second set by a score of 25-18.

The third set was a carbon copy of the second, with both sides trading the lead. With the Tigers leading 15-14 out of the media timeout, they would use a seven-point scoring run to grab a seven-point edge. Despite the visitors grabbing kills to keep the set close, Memphis would go on to win the third set by a score of 25-17.

The fourth set saw the Eagles jump out to a 3-1 cushion before the Tigers came back to level the score. They then jumped out to another lead with back-to-back kills from Hoppes, but Memphis would respond once again, eventually taking a 15-13 lead going into the media timeout. Each team followed the break by trading points off the serve, but the Eagles used a three-point scoring run to grab a 17-16 lead. Memphis came back, taking six of the next nine points for a 22-20 edge going into crunch time. BC responded, starting with a Ross kill and a forced error to even the contest at 22-22.
