Eagles Drop One at No. 7 North Carolina

BC falls to 7-2 overall and 0-2 in ACC play with the loss
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — No. 5 Boston College dropped a 6-1 decision at three-time defending national champion and No. 7 North Carolina.
Fusine Govaert tallied a goal for the Eagles in the 57th minute off a penalty corner, with Sarah Johnson injecting and Juliette Hijdra serving as stopper.
Carolina led 1-0 after the first quarter and 2-0 at halftime before breaking the game open with three goals in the third quarter. The Tar Heels added a fourth quarter score before Govaert found the back of the cage.
Jonna Kennedy made five saves in 37:35 of play. Emily Gillespie stopped two shots in goal for BC. UNC held an 18-7 advantage in shots on the day, including a 10-2 edge in shots on-goal. The Eagles held a 29-10 advantage in shots and a 12-5 edge in shots on-goal. Both teams attempted six penalty corners.
The loss moves the Eagles to 7-2 overall and 0-2 in ACC play. BC returns to action at home on Oct. 3, when it hosts Massachusetts.
