Eagles to Face Team USA, Canada in USA Fall Classic
August 27, 2021 | Lacrosse
SPARKS, Md. – Coming off its first-ever national championship, the Boston College lacrosse team will head to Sparks, Maryland from Oct. 15-17 in the USA Lacrosse Fall Classic.
The Eagles will take on USA and Canadian National Teams on Saturday, Oct. 16 at the USA Lacrosse headquarters and will be hosting a clinic on Sunday, Oct. 17.
It's an honor to travel to the USA Lacrosse facility in Maryland to compete against the world's best lacrosse players," said Boston College Head Coach Acacia Walker-Weinstein. "Who doesn't want to watch the best vs the best?! It will be a challenge that we'll cherish and hopefully it strengthens us as a team heading into a very important 2022 season. I wish we could keep our players in their BC uniform for that game but it will also be a proud moment to see them run with the most historical players in the game in the greatest jersey of all time with team USA."
BC is coming off an 18-3 season and winning the national championship. The Eagles return 82% of its offensive output this upcoming season, including Tewaaraton Award winner Charlotte North. North set the men's and women's NCAA record for goals in a season with 102. BC has four All-Americans returning in North, Jenn Medjid, Hollie Schleicher and reigning ACC Freshman of the Year Belle Smith.
The Eagles also bring in one of the top recruiting classes in the nation, with the nation's top recruit Mallory Hasselbeck coming to The Heights, along with fellow Under Armour All-Americans Summer Agostino and McKenna Davis.
Team USA is coming off three-straight world championships, while Canada was medaled at each of the last three world championships, including two silver medals in 2013 and 2017.
BC may see some familiar foes against Team USA, as current assistant coach Sam Apuzzo, Demspey Arsenault '19 and Kenzie Kent '19 are vying to make the USA roster. Current Eagles' Charlotte North and Belle Smith will also be wearing the red, white and blue for the weekend.
Ticket information and a full schedule for the USA Lacrosse Fall Classic are scheduled to be released the week of Sept. 13.
