June 17, 2021 | Lacrosse
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Senior attacker Charlotte North has been named the 2021 Honda Sport Award winner for lacrosse, as announced by Chris Voelz, Executive Director of The Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) today.
She joins Sam Apuzzo '19 as the only two winners from BC.
North is now a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the prestigious 2021 Honda Cup, which will be presented on a live telecast on CBS Sports Network on Monday, June 28, 2021.
"I am so excited for Charlotte, her family and her teammates. She has helped bring BC to new heights this year and has exceeded all of our expectations for her," said BC head coach Acacia Walker-Weinstein. "She is a leader of our program and inspires all of us, from the coaching staff to her teammates to all the girls dreaming of playing college lacrosse. And even as great of a player she is, she's an even better teammate, student and friend."
North was named the 2021 Tewaaraton Award winner and IWLCA Player of the Year after a stellar campaign that included an NCAA record 102 goals and culminated with BC claiming their first national championship. During the NCAA Tournament, she set the record for goals in a single tournament with 31 and was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
North racked up 114 points and 174 draw controls in 2021, earning first-team All-ACC honors. North, who finished the season ranked first in Division I for goals, second for points, and third for draw controls, was also named a finalist for the 2021 Honda Award for women's lacrosse.
This season she also set the BC and ACC record for goals in a single game, with 10 against Virginia Tech and BC record for goals in an NCAA Tournament game with eight, doing so against both Temple and Notre Dame. Her six goals in the NCAA Championship Game tied the record for goals in a title game.
