Eagles Defeat Notre Dame to Make Fourth-Straight Final Four

NEWTON, Mass. – The fourth-seeded Boston College lacrosse team defeated the fifth-seeded Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 21-10, to make its fourth-straight final four on Saturday, May 22 at the Newton Lacrosse and Soccer Field.

Charlotte North had a record-setting day, scoring eight goals and adding an assist. She broke the NCAA Tournament record for goals in a single tournament, totaling 23 in the three games so far. She breaks a record set by Katrina Dowd and Selena Lasota, who both scored 22 in a single tournament. North now has 94 goals this year, which ties her with Sam Apuzzo's record for goals in a single season, and is six short of the NCAA record of 100.

Also breaking records today was freshman Belle Smith, who scored three goals and added an assist on the day. She now has 59 points this year, which is the most ever by a freshman in program history, doing so on 44 goals and 15 assists. The 44 goals tie her with Brooke Blue for the most in a season.

Smith scored BC's first three goals of the day, which then helped the Eagles get a 7-2 first-half lead.

The Irish bounced back and made it a 7-5 game before Jenn Medjid scored with less than a second left in the first half to head to the locker room up, 8-5.

Medjid had six points on the day, from five goals and an assist. She now has 55 goals and 72 points this year.

The Eagles exploded in the second half, scoring 13 goals.

BC dominated at the circle, securing 22 of the game's 30 draws. Hollie Schleicher led the way for the Eagles, grabbing 10 draws, while North had seven and Cara Urbank had five.

- Belle Smith had three goals and an assist, breaking the BC freshman record for points in a season. She now has 59 points on 44 goals and 15 assists this year.
- Jenn Medjid has played some of her best lacrosse this year in the NCAA Tournament. She had five goals and an assist today, giving her 19 points (13G, 6A) in her last three games. She has 55 goals and 17 assists this season.
- Hollie Schleicher had a career-high 10 draw controls today, giving her 84 on the year. She is now seventh in draw controls in a single season at BC.
- Sydney Scales tallied her first-career point today, coming on an assist to Jenn Medjid.
- Rachel Hall moves to 16-3 this season, making four saves on the day.
