May 20, 2021 | Lacrosse
SPARKS, Md. – Five current and former Eagles have been selected to tryout for the US Women's National Team from June 9-11 at USA Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Md. If selected, they will compete for Team USA in the 2022 World Championships from June 29-July 9, 2022 at Towson.
Â
Former Eagles selected for the tryout are Sam Apuzzo '19, Dempsey Arsenault '19 and Kenzie Kent '19, while current Eagles Charlotte North and Belle Smith were selected. Also trying out is current associate head coach Kayla Treanor.
Â
North has had one of the best statistical seasons in the country, scoring 86 goals and adding 10 assists for 96 points. She's second in the nation in goals and fourth in goals per game at 4.78. Not only has she been dominant on offense, she has also been dominant in the circle. North has 163 draw controls this season, which is second in the country and tied for the second-most in a single season at BC. Earlier this year against Virginia Tech, she broke the BC record for goals in a game and then broke the BC record for goals in a NCAA Tournament game with eight against Temple. A native of Dallas, North was an All-ACC first team selection and one of five Tewaaraton Award finalists, given to the nation's best player.
Â
Smith was the only freshman named to any all-region first team and the only freshman on either the All-ACC first or second team. She has 43 goals and 12 assists for 55 points this year. Smith is currently tied with Covie Stanwick and Brooke Blue for the most points in a freshman season at BC. A native of Westhampton, New York, Smith was also named the Inside Lacrosse Midseason Rookie of the Year.
Â
Apuzzo, Arsenault, Kent and Treanor are all playing this summer with Athletes Unlimited Pro Lacrosse, set to begin June 23.
