Experienced, talented 7-footer transfers to BC from Mississippi State
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Head coach Earl Grant announced that Quinten Post has committed to Boston College and will continue his academic and athletic endeavors at Boston College.
The 7-0, 240 lb. forward will have three seasons of eligibility remaining after transferring from Mississippi State. Originally from Amsterdam, Post played the previous two seasons (39 games) with the Bulldogs.
"We are extremely excited to add Quinten to our program. He will give us another experienced big guy that is very versatile," said Grant. "He is capable of scoring in the post as well as stepping out on the perimeter. He is a very good passer and has a high basketball IQ. His size will allow him to protect the rim and be a defensive anchor."
In 31 games during the 2020-21 campaign, the versatile post player averaged 2.8 points and 2.1 rebounds in close to nine minutes of play per game. An inside-outside threat, 10 of Post's 34 made field goals came from beyond the arc. He also logged 15 blocked shots in 270 total minutes played, serving as a key reserve for Mississippi State as they advanced to the championship game of the 2021 NIT. As a freshman, Post was named to the SEC's First-Year Academic Honor Roll for his success in the classroom.
Prior to arriving in Starksville, Post represented his native Netherlands at the FIBA European U20 Championships in Portugal in July 2019. He averaged 7.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game as the Dutch squad went 4-1 in pool play en route to a sixth place finish. He logged a double-double - 11 points and 10 boards - to go with five assists against Estonia before an 18-point performance versus Sweden. He played for the Alba Berlin Youth Club in Germany, averaging 15.8 points and 6.8 boards in 2018-19.
