Three unearned runs the difference for the Rams

The win moved Rhode Island to 3-12 on the season while BC fell to 6-19.

The Rams scored one in the first and three in the third before BC scored six runs in the fourth to take a 6-4 lead.

The big hit in the fourth for the Eagles was a bases clearing double by Ellie Mataya to plate three runs.

Rhode Island responded in the top of the sixth with three unearned runs. The Rams used a single and a walk before Alex Pleasic reached on a fielding error to score a run. Hannah DeSousa followed with a triple to score two more runs to put the Rams in front for good, 7-6.

Rhode Island's Taryn Collins worked 3.1 innings for her first win of the season.

Mataya led BC at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored. Emme Martinez reached base all four times she came to the plate with four walks.

Gianna Randazza, Kristin Giery and Nicole Giery each also drove in a run for the Eagles.
Â
Boston College continues its five-game homestand this week with a four-game series against Syracuse. All four games will be broadcast on ACC Network, including the series opener on Friday at 3 p.m.
