
BC Drops a Pair to Syracuse

Two teams finish the series Saturday with another doubleheader
BRIGHTON, Mass. – Syracuse earned a pair of victories to start the four-game series at Boston College on Friday with a 2-1 victory in eight innings in game one and a 7-1 victory in the second game of the doubleheader.

The Orange moved to 15-9 overall and 8-6 in ACC play while BC dropped to 6-21 and 2-13 in the ACC.

In game one, Susannah Anderson pitched a complete game gem, holding the Orange to just one earned run over eight innings of work. She struck out a season-high seven.

The game was scoreless until BC broke through with a run in the fifth on a RBI triple from Ellie Mataya.

The Orange tied the game at one in the top of the seventh, taking advantage of an unearned run to force extra innings.

Syracuse took its first lead in the following inning as Angel Jasso singled to right field to score Neli Casares-Maher.

Alexa Romero made the one-run lead stand as she went the distance for the Orange to get the win. The left-hander struck out 12 in eight innings of work.

In the second game of the day, Syracuse used a three-run second and never trailed as the Orange captured a 7-1 win. The Orange added single runs in the third, fourth, fifth and seventh. Paris Woods led the way going 1-for-2 with four runs batted.

Kaia Oliver went the distance in the circle for the Orange. She allowed just three hits and one run with four strikeouts.
