BC Rallies Late to Defeat Virginia, 3-1

Eagles score two in the sixth to complete the comeback
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Junior pitcher Susannah Anderson tossed her second complete game of the series and Boston College broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth with a pair of runs as the Eagles defeated Virginia 3-1 on Friday at Palmer Park.

The Alexandria, Va., native pitched her ninth complete game of the season and held Virginia to just one run on five hits in seven innings. She struck out two as BC improved to 6-17 on the season and 2-10 in the ACC while Virginia dropped to 10-18 and 6-14 in the ACC.

Ashley Jennings' solo home run in the second gave Virginia an early 1-0 lead.

BC got on the scoreboard for the first time in the series with a clutch two-out single from Emme Martinez in the fifth to score Ellie Mataya to tie the game at 1-1.

Mataya then delivered the big hit with a two-out, two-run single in the sixth to plate Gianna Boccagno and Djhane Valido to give BC a 3-1 lead. Mataya had a big day, going 3-for-4 with a double, run scored and two runs batted in.
