CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- The Boston College volleyball returns home for its first matches at Power Gym since opening the spring season five weeks ago when it hosts Miami at 5 p.m. Friday evening. The Eagles conclude the weekend against Virginia Tech on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Hurricanes and the Hokies play Saturday at 2 p.m.
BC, which played three matches in three days in North Carolina last weekend, earned a five-set win at Miami in 2019 and a home sweep of VT the last time the two programs met. Senior outside hitter Clare Naughton (Atlanta, Ga.) leads the Eagles with 2.53 kills per set to go with 2.09 digs per set. Senior middle blocker Amaka Chukwujekwu (Laurel, Md.) is hitting a team-best .277, but with just 1.65 kills per set, while posting 0.74 blocks per set; second only to sophomore middle Gabby McCaa (Minneapolis, Minn.) at 0.88.
Prior to Sunday's match, BC will hold a brief "Senior Day" ceremony to celebrate senior middle blocker Ally Mullen (Geneva, Ill.). Mullen, who missed all of her junior season due to injury, has appeared in 137 sets and totaled 161 kills on a .298 attack rate. She set a career-high in kills with 11 vs. Bryant as a freshman and blocks with nine vs. Harvard as a sophomore.
Next weekend, the Eagles face Wake Forest twice in Winston-Salem before wrapping up the season with a recently scheduled home match against Merrimack on Saturday, April 3.
