No. 11 Eagles Run Past No. 22 UMass, 19-7

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The No. 11 Boston College lacrosse team dominated against No. 22 UMass, winning 19-7 inside Fish Field House on Tuesday, March 2. With the win, BC moves to 3-0, while UMass falls to 1-1.

Leading BC was junior Jenn Medjid, who tied her career-high with five goals, while adding an assist, while Caitlynn Mossman set career-highs in assists with four and points with five.

Sophomore Annie Walsh and freshman Belle Smith both had three goals, registering their first-career hat tricks. Smith also added an assist, tying her career-high with four points.

UMass jumped out early, holding a 4-2 lead 10 minutes into the game, but BC then went on a 10-2 run to close out the final 20 minutes of the first half.

The Eagles held UMass scoreless for 28:29 of the game, from the 3:56 mark of the first half to the 5:27 mark of the second half. Leading that defensive charge was junior Rachel Hall, who had nine saves.

BC outscored the Minutewomen, 7-1 in the second half.

It was a quiet outing for BC's usual stars in Charlotte North and Cara Urbank, who both had two goals on three shots each. Urbank had an assist as well.

BC dominated in the circle, registering a 22-6 advantage in draw controls. North had 10 on the day, while Urbank and Hollie Schleicher both had six. The Eagles also had more ground balls, 19-13, and outshot UMass, 36-24. BC had a season-high nine assisted goals on the day.
