Eagles Gearing Up to Host Louisville on Saturday

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College men's soccer team is set to return to action on the Newton Campus Soccer Field for the first time in 485 days when it hosts Louisville on Saturday, March 20. The game is slated for a 2 p.m. start.
All home 202-210 BC athletics events are closed to the public due to Covid-19 protocols.

• Louisville is riding a two-game win streak after topping Syracuse, 3-1 on March 12 ... the Cardinals opened up the spring season with a 3-0 win at NC State on March 4 and stand at 3-6-1 on the year.
• Pedro Fonseca has 11 points in 10 games played, scoring four goals and adding three assists ... Fonseca also has a team-leading 20 shots with nine on goal.

• Boston College is 0-4-1 all-time against Louisville, with all games played since Louisville joined the ACC in 2014.
• The first two games in the series were one-goal BC losses, including the first-ever meeting on Sept. 29, 2014 (3-2 OT), with four of the five meetings being decided by one goal.
• In the first four meetings between the teams, at least one overtime period was played until the Cardinals earned a 4-0 win over the Eagles in 2017.

• The Boston College men's soccer team finally returned to the pitch for a competition on Saturday, March 6 at Wake Forest ... it had been 468 days since the last game.
• The Demon Deacons jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute but Stefan Sigurdarson tied the game up in the 40th.
• Kristofer Konradsson then gave BC a 2-1 lead just three minutes into the second half ... Wake Forest, though, would score twice over the final five minutes for the come-from-behind 3-2 win.
• Christian Garner finished with three saves for the Eagles ... Sigurdarson's goal was the ninth of his career and third against Wake Forest.
• The game marked Bob Thompson's first as head coach of the Eagles.

• The Boston College men's soccer team finished the 2019 season with an overall mark of 9-6-3 and a record of 2-4-2 in ACC play.
• The Eagles earned the program's 15th-ever NCAA tournament appearance ... BC hosted Yale in the first round, earning a 3-0 win, and then fell at No. 4 Washington, 2-0, in the second round.
• The Eagles opened up the season with a 4-0-0 mark and then went on to record a six-game unbeaten streak later in the season.
• Stefan Sigurdarson led the team in scoring, putting up 20 points on eight goals and four assists ... he had three game-winning goals as a rookie.

• The Eagles are led by a quartet of student-athletes this year in Gregorio Barilla, Ian Buehler, Christian Garner and David Longo.
• Garner, a junior, appeared in 12 games with nine starts in 2019 ... the goalkeeper finished the season with 54 saves and a .794 save percentage.
• Buehler, a senior, has played in eight games for the Eagles, including a career-high six last season as a junior.
• Barilla, a two-time All-ACC Academic Honor Roll member, earned his debut as an Eagle last season at Virginia Tech as a sophomore.
