ACC Championships Up Next for Eagles

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College fencing team will head to the University of North Carolina this weekend for the 2021 ACC Championships, with individual competition set for Saturday, Feb. 27 and the team championship for Sunday, Feb. 29.

The men's and women's individual finals on Saturday and the entire team championship on Sunday will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra (ACCNX). Action at Carmichael Arena in Chapel Hill, N.C. starts at 9Â a.m. Saturday with the women's individual competition.

THE OPPONENTS
-Notre Dame is the two-time defending ACC Champion on both the men's and women's side … on both the men's and women's side, Notre Dame has won five of the six ACC tournaments since joining the league for the 2014-15 season.
-UNC leads all ACC schools with eight team titles on the men's side … Notre Dame leads all schools on the women's side with five championships while UNC has one.

-The Eagles took on Sacred Heart last weekend, winning both rounds of the dual.
-On the men's side, the team earned pair of 18-9 wins … the sabre squad won both rounds, as did the epee squad while foil picked up a win in the second round.
-Spencer Kuldell went 6-0 in sabre while Bolang Meng (3-3) and Inigo Rivera (3-0) both picked up three wins each in the weapon … Clayton Reid and Brian Wang led the foil squad with 4-2 records.
-The women earned a 24-3 and 20-7 wins … the sabre squad had a 9-0 win in the first round along with an 8-1 in round two … foil squad earned 8-1 wins in both rounds while the epee squad had a 7-2 win in the first round.
-Gillian Lawlor led the sabre squad with a 6-0 record while Crystal Chen was 5-1 and Rachel Liu and Katarina Hone both went 3-0 … Samantha Yeh was 6-0 in foil … Madison Lee and Kate Devereaux both had 5-1 performances … Laura Boden led the epeeists with a 5-1 mark.
